The road to success is different for every single one of us. However, there are some aspects that are often very common among successful women and that somehow links them together. It’s a sort of unnoticed reality that we often don’t really pay attention to, but that it’s actually under our eyes. One of these things is how they start their morning. I’ve always been really interested in the things successful women never do in the morning. Why? Because I believe that the hours after waking up are the most important of the days when it comes to getting things done, being productive and having a good perspective on your priorities.
The thing is that people generally look at what people do in the morning in order to be successful. However, I actually believe that the best way to fix your morning routine and understand the way successful women look at it is to analyze what they don’t do in the morning.
Are you ready to change your habits and learn what successful women never do in the morning? Then go ahead and start getting inspired!
Here are the 9 things successful women never do in the morning:
I know how tempting it is to catch some more minutes of sleep after the alarm goes off, especially when you go to sleep late at night. However, a study of the Harvard Medical School shows that hitting snooze can actually cause lack of alertness as well as very low-performance ability in the hours after waking up.
This might make you realize that hitting snooze will only make the awakening process much worse and will affect a big part of your day, slowing you down.
If you can’t help yourself hitting snooze you could try purchasing a clock that doesn’t allow you to do so, like the one down below from Amazon that makes you decide whether you want the snooze option or not while you’re setting it.
This means that setting multiple alarms is not a good option heather. Instead, find a way that helps you wake up fresh and full of energies. Obviously going to bed early is the best option. However, if you came home late and you want to wake up in the morning ready for a full workday try the Sleepytime app. What is it? It’s basically an app that, based on your sleep cycle, tells you the best time to wake up in order to feel fully restored. Personally, I use it all the time and it really helps me wake up way more easily.
We all know that breakfast is a very important part of the morning, as it gives you the energy to start your day and helps you be the best version of yourself. However, many people tend to skip this fundamental step, as they either don’t have the time for it or don’t actually think it’s important.
Personally, when I skip breakfast, for whatever reason, I always find it really hard to focus on what I’m doing (whether it is studying, working or paying attention in class).
“By the time you wake up, your body and brain are demanding fresh fuel”, states the Harvard Medical School’s Health Publishing, in order to work properly and be ready for the challenges that you’ll have to face during the day.
Successful women never skip this important moment because they know how important it is for their body to get the nutrition it deserves and needs.
What kind of breakfast do successful women have?
This leads us to a very important aspect of our breakfast: successful women generally avoid a breakfast high in sugars (such as breakfast cereals, bars, store-bought smoothies, pressed juices, donuts, etc.). The reason is very simple: after the energy peak that sugar gives you, your energy levels will drastically drop. That’s why many medical studies say that skipping breakfast is actually better
Instead, successful women tend to opt for a well-rounded breakfast that not only provides some protein but also contains slowly digested carbohydrates, as well as some fruit or vegetables.
What could be a good breakfast then? “I do an egg, toast, and maybe an eighth of an avocado. Instead of coffee, chai
My favorite breakfast is a banana and cacao oatmeal that I created and that fills me up for the entire morning (apart from being extremely delicious).
Wake up after 8 a.m.
Even though waking up at 5 am has always been in my top priorities, I’ve always struggled at it. That’s not because I’m a night owl or something like that. Actually, I find myself to be way more productive in the morning rather than at night. Mine is the same situation as many other people that are trying to create the perfect morning routine.
The problem is that in today’s society going to bed early is hard for two main reasons:
First thing first we tend to procrastinate so much that we end up having a lot of tasks to accomplish at night. And even when we have nothing to do we stay up late because we can’t stop texting our friends, watching Netflix or even just doing scrolling through Instagram.
The second reason is that even getting back home at a decent time is pretty hard because of the social context that we live in. Going out at 12 a.m. is considered normal because everyone does so, which means that if we want to have a social life we have to conform to these “rules”.
However, successful women never go to bed late, but on special occasions, which means that waking up early is extremely easy and natural. Many CEOs, founders
Check their phone
You probably already know that checking your phone (and your emails) first thing in the morning is very bad for you. However, we all know that this is easier said than done.
The reason why successful women never check their phone after waking up (and why you should never do it as well) is that what you experience in the first hour of your morning will set your mood for the rest of the day.
So, if you see something on your phone that will make you upset, stressed or even angry, your body will set itself into a reactive state that will determine the rest of your day.
That’s why you should reserve the first hour of your day for yourself in order to condition your mind for success and feed it with positive thoughts, such as self-love and gratitude.
Go on with the day without drinking any water
Even if you don’t feel like having breakfast you should at least dring a big glass of water to keep your body hydrated and boost your metabolism.
Many successful women like to start their day with a cup of warm lemon water because it helps boost their energy and be ready to get the morning started. If you want to know more about the befits of lemon water check out this post:
