Recently, I’ve realized how much watching movies about inspiring people motivates me to work harder and smarter to achieve my goals. That’s why I’ve decided to share with you the ones that have somehow changed my mindset for the best. These will make the girl boss who lives inside you discover her abilities and possibilities. Basically, these movies will help you use the tools you already have as well as develop new ones.

This list doesn’t only include movies that portrait powerful inspirational female characters. You’ll also find some very interesting male characters. The reason behind this choice is that every single one of these characters has an aspect we can learn from. I believe that the best way to improve ourselves is by looking for something we can acquire, without limiting ourselves to a certain model.

So, without further ado let’s get on to the top 5 movies that will motivate the girl boss living inside you:

Erin Brockovich

Erin Brockovich is a single mother of three who, after losing a personal injury lawsuit, starts working as a file clerk in her lawyer’s office, and she runs across some information on a little-known case filed against Pacific Gas and Electric. Erin begins digging into the particulars of the case, convinced that the facts simply don’t add up; in time, she discovers a systematic cover-up of the industrial poisoning of a city’s water supply, which threatens the health of the entire community.

This movie shows the triumph of a unique individual whose determination, empathy, and sense of moral duty ultimately outweigh her struggles.

Margin Call

Set in the high-stakes world of the financial industry, Margin Call is an entangling thriller involving the key players at an investment firm during one perilous 24-hour period in the early stages of the 2008 financial crisis. When an entry-level analyst unlocks information that could prove to be the downfall of the firm, a roller-coaster ride ensues as decisions both financial and moral catapult the lives of all involved to the brink of disaster.

If you’re interested in the financial world, this is a must-watch movie. It will help you understand the dramatic reality of a company having to make quick decisions in the middle of the biggest economic crisis of the last decades.

The Intern

This movie is definitely a more light-hearted, enjoyable one. However, there’s something powerful in the simple fact that it is so resolutely on the side of a person who might, in other contexts, be dismissed or ignored or, as is so often the case, invisible.

Joy Mangano, an airline booking agent, struggles financially while juggling a complicated family life, after her failed marriage. Frustrated when using a conventional mop, Joy designs and builds an innovative self-wringing type. Through ups and dows she’ll ultimately manage to become a successful business woman.

The Founder

This movie is definitely different, as the main character, who sacrifices morality to follow the “American Dream”, is not the best role model. However, what you should take away from this movie are his persistence and determination to achieve his goals.

What is it about? It’s the story of Ray Kroc, a salesman who turned two brothers’ innovative fast-food eatery, McDonald’s, into the biggest restaurant business in the world, with a combination of ambition, persistence, and ruthlessness.
