If you’re reading this you probably know that blogging, if done correctly, is a great way to make money, both as a side hustle and a full-time job. However, you might don’t know that one of the best ways to make money blogging is through affiliate programs. The thing is that there are some affiliate programs that are not worth the effort as they offer a very small commission. So, in this post, I’m going to share with you the best and highest paying affiliate programs.
A quick note: in the following paragraphs I explain what affiliates programs are and how they work, so if you want to skip to the actual highest paying affiliate programs just skip to them.
What are Affiliate Programs?
Affiliate (or associates) programs are basically a marketing method for online shops to drive sales on their website through the collaboration with blogs and websites in general. It can be done through text links, banners, and buttons that the website owner places on his pages and posts.
How do Affiliate Programs Work?
If you want to be part of the affiliate program of a company in particular and start promoting their products (or services) on your blog, all you have to do is sign up for that program. Here’s how it works:
- Sign up for the program and wait for the company to approve you. It generally doesn’t take more than a week (you can generally find the link to the affiliate program of the company in the footer of their website).
- Once you get approved for the affiliate program you can get your unique link that tracks your affiliate code for the product (or service) that you want to promote.
- Include your affiliate link on your blog. You can do this by placing the link in your posts or through banner ads.
- If a readers click on your unique link or on the ad and buy the product you have recommended, you earn a percentage of what they purchased.
Why Affiliate Programs Are Great
When I first started blogging I thought that the only way for bloggers to make money was through ads. Because of this, I was really struggling to make money as my page views were not enough to get me a decent income. Basically, I was making a maximum of $2 dollars a day, which was definitely not paying back my efforts. I did not want to give up blogging, even though balancing school and work was not that simple.
This changed completely when I stumbled upon a blog post explained how the writer of this article was making over 10,000 dollars per month. The main income source was not ads: it was affiliate programs!
Now, I had actually heard of affiliate programs before, but I thought they were a completely different thing. To be honest, I believed they were “sponsored posts”, which are actually a completely different thing.
So, I felt stupid for a couple of seconds, but after that, I immediately jumped into them and applied to a few of them. As soon as I got accepted I immediately started implementing them in my posts and I realized how great they were. I started making a maximum of $40 dollars per day and I finally felt like blogging was actually worth my time.
Obviously, over time, I learned that there are many other ways to make money blogging (here you can check out my post on how to make money blogging to learn about all the existing methods to profit from your blog). However, I still think that affiliate programs are one of the highest paying and best ways to do it.
The Highest Paying Affiliate Programs
I know it was a long way to this paragraph but we’re finally here and I’m ready to share with you the best and highest paying affiliate programs on the market.
So, here are the best and highest paying affiliate programs suitable for every blog niche:
#1 – Amazon Associates
This is probably the one I love the most out of these five highest paying affiliate programs, mostly because it’s the one that helps me monetize my blog the most.
Amazon Associates is not that great in terms of commissions, to be completely honest, as it ranges from 1.00% (for video games and video games consoles) to 10% (for Amazon Fashion Women, Men & Kids Private Label, Luxury Beauty, Amazon Coins).
However, we all know that basically everybody shops from Amazon. Plus, Amazon offers a very wide range of products and prices options. This means that you, as the blogger that recommends the products, can choose what to suggest also basing your decision in terms of prices and commission rates.
This is what makes Amazon Associates a great option for every kind of blogger (both small and big ones). Whatever your blog niche is you’ll, sure enough, find something that your audience would want to buy.
As I already said in my guide on how to make money blogging, the main reason why I love Amazon Associates is the fact that you earn a commission for whatever the customer, that clicked the link on your blog, buys. Basically, if one of your visitors clicks on an affiliate link in your blog, but ends up buying something completely different from the product you suggested, you will earn a commission anyways.
Fun fact is that most of what I earn from Amazon actually comes from purchases that had nothing in common with the product I suggested.
#2 – Shopify
Shopify is a commerce platform that lets you start, grow, and manage a business. On Shopify people can:
- Create and customize an online store
- Sell in multiple places, including web, mobile, social media, online marketplaces, brick-and-mortar locations, and pop-up shops
- Manage products, inventory, payments, and shipping
However, the greatest thing about Shopify, from an affiliate point of view, is the fact that every sale you land you earn a 200% commission. No, you didn’t see wrong. You literally make double the sale and some bloggers are making up to $2,400 per sale.
You might be thinking that this must be a scam since it looks like Shopify is actually losing money from affiliate sales. However, if you look at it from a long-term perspective, you’ll notice that it makes sense and that this is a great marketing strategy of the company.
I’ve actually discovered the Shopify affiliate program just a few days ago and I immediately decided to apply for it. I’m probably going to do a review on it as soon as I get the hang of it, so be sure to stay tuned to see if I made some sales and see if it’s really as amazing as many people say.
#3 – Shareasale
Shareasale is an affiliate marketing network which means that it features a huge variety of merchants (about 2,500). What Shareasale does is connecting merchant and affiliates that have the same audience, in order to make both of them grow and basically sell more.
Since Shareasale holds that many merchants, finding the right product or service to promote gets pretty easy for every kind of blogger.
As regards commissions, they range from as little as 1% to as much as 200%. You’ll be able to look at each merchant’s commission when applying for its affiliate program.

Until next time, happy earning!
